Meeting Minute 4

Date : 11 February 2009
Venue : BT18/19
Time : 10.20am
Members in attendance: Alex Sim, Dg. Syarmi, Roland Mislan, Tan Beng Hin, Wong Mun Bin

1. All group members discuss about the proposal for the project that have to be submitted next week.
a) Proposal definition in pre-proposal is included in proposal.
b) The minimum requirement for proposal is at least to conceptual design.
c) If possible, the proposal also includes the preliminary design.

2. After the discussion among the members and understanding the requirement request for proposal, each of the group member do a pair wise table to rank the most criteria to judge the feasibility of the design.

3. All group member pick five criteria that should be used in the design,
a) Usefulness
b) Cost
c) Durability
d) Good-looking
e) Portability
The above criterion has been arranged following the group members choices.
4.
The group members divide the task individually.
a) Introduction; overview of the problem and costumer needs.
b) Background; preliminary research, previous or related project.
c) Objective or design specification; mission statement, function, design criteria.
d) FAST diagram
e) Conceptual design description
f) Ranking of conceptual design; pair wise table with explanation.
g) Proposed design solution; design methodology, diagram or figures.
h) Risk analysis; concern and challenges for the project.
i) Project management plan; gantt chart
j) Budget
k) References

5. There are few left task that all members did not understand and ask Roland to meet the lecturer.

6. Discuss the proposal content and the formatting in proposal report.

Meeting Minute 3

Date : 19 January 2009

Time : 2.45pm
Members in attendance: Alex Sim, Dg. Syarmi, Roland Mislan, Tan Beng Hin, Wong Mun Bin

1. Discuss who will be presenting for week 4 pre-proposal. After some consideration and agreement on all team, all group members decided Alex Sim will be presenting the pre-proposal on week 4.

2. The main point of the meeting today is on problem definition and client statement.
a) After last week meeting with the client Pn. Siti Hasnah, she gives the minimum requirement that need to have in the project is
i) Stop watch up to millisecond
ii) Timer can be set up to 3 hours
iii) Remote control
b) All group members also discuss about the objective for this project design. A few ideas comes up from all group member such as
i) The clock is useful for classroom environment
ii) It is easier to manage time for student and teacher so that the class can begin and end punctually.
c) The group has come up with ideas last week on 13 January and discuss again with user requirement for each ideas.
For minimum requirement that client want,
i) The stop watch that can be observing to millisecond is useful for lab or quizzes.
ii) Timer that can be set up to 3 hours is useful for exam.
iii) All the function can be set remotely; it is more convenience to use. The clock for classroom usually hanging on wall, so with remote it is easier to set the timer.
The additional idea
iv) Use LCD for more style.
v) Calendar to show date and day.
vi) Alarm with music, the client had suggested that maybe the music can be selected.
vii) Show room temperature for student and teacher can feel more comfortable with soothing environment.
viii) A reminder so that they did not forget if have anything important for the day.
But this project will only do the minimum requirement first, if still got the time then do other requirement.
d) The constraint that the group might have while doing this project is
i) Financially; with budget limited to rm250 only.
ii) Lack of skill; microcontroller, connection circuit, diagram.
e) The function that the group will establish is the minimum requirement only.

Date : 16 January 2009
Venue : Foyer SKTM
Time : 9.30am
Members in attendance: Alex Sim, Dg. Syarmi, Roland Mislan, Tan Beng Hin, Wong Mun Bin

1. All group members gather to meet Pn. Siti Hasnah. The group leader suggested that only 2 or 3 person meet her in her room. Mun Bin and Alex Sim volunteer to meet her.

a) The meeting with Pn. Siti Hasnah is in her room.
b) The client had state her minimum requirement for the project design,
i) A timer that can be set up to 3 hours.
ii) A stop watches up to millisecond.
iii) A remote control that controls the digital clock.
c) Mun Bin and Alex share some ideas that the group members already discuss on 13 January with the client and she was very interested and add some suggestion.
d) Discussion session with client end at 10.30am.

1. The meeting starts by dividing the task for each person such state above.

2. The leader brainstorming the course syllabus that has been given to group member. The syllabus are

i) Purpose of course and course learning objective.

ii) Overview the course format.

iii) Design team composition. The roles as stated above.

iv) The prizes and choices award.

v) The grading policy.

vi) Estimated time required per student.

vii) Schedule.

3. The group member had a discussion about the syllabus and motivates each other to work effectively in team.

4. Group member briefly discuss about the project design titled digital clock for classroom and share some idea, such as

i) Use LCD for the clock

ii) Stop watch and timer

iii) Using remote control to set the clock

iv) Alarm with music

v) Show temperature

5. All group member had time table synchronize with each other so that easier to make another meeting every week.

6. Setting an appointment to meet client, Pn. Siti Hasnah.

Little Introduction To Digital Clock

Some few example of digital clock

A digital clock is a type of clock that display the time digitally, i.e. in cyphers, as opposed to an analog clock, where the time is displayed by hands. Usually, digitally clock are associated with electronic drives.

It is incorporated into all kinds of devices apart from clocks, such as radios, televisions, mircowave ovens, standard ovens, computers and cell phones.


Function of our Digital Clock

1. Digital Clock that can display time.
2. Features calendar.
3. Timer that can be set up to 3 hours.
4. Stopwatch with accuracy up to millisecond.
5. All function can be set with a REMOTE CONTROL (Our main purpose).
